A travel company has seen huge increases in flight searches to jungle locations since this year’s I’m a Celebrity aired on ITV.
Inspired by I’m a Celeb contestants such as Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo, Jamie Lomas and Vanessa White Brits venture to jungle destinations.
Despite the seventeenth series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! having ended on Sunday, Brits are keen to continue exploring sunnier and more adventurous pastures, just perhaps ones with less creepy crawlies than our jungle inmates. The finale saw Made In Chelsea favourite, Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo steal the nation’s hearts to be crowned Queen of the jungle.
Since the series began on 19th November travel site Kiwi.com have seen an unprecedented increase in flights being booked to exotic locations. Flight searches have soared by 170% since the celebrities first hit the jungle three weeks ago. Flights to airports nearby to jungle locations such as Kota Kinabalu – Malaysia, Columbia, Goa and Brisbane where the programme is filmed have proved particularly popular.
Kiwi.com have noticed a significant increase in bookings by over 70 year olds for trips to the likes of India, Borneo and The Amazon since this year’s series of I’m a Celebrity began. Since completing his Jungle experience, British politician and father of Boris Johnson, Stanley Johnson, has urged older travellers to discover jungles across the world.
Stephen Davis of Kiwi.com said: “It’s amazing to see the influence a show like I’m A Celeb can have on consumer travelling habits. Stanley in particular is having an effect on elderly travellers, whether it’s testing their appetite for crickets and cockroaches or conquering a fear of heights, elderly travellers are pushing boundaries more than ever before. It’s interesting to see that even with very low saving rates, people are still more inclined not to save their money but to spend it on travelling and bucket list trips.”
