November 1st marks the release of Taylor Morris Eyewear’s SS16 collection; the 4th and latest collection since their launch 2 years ago, demonstrating their growth from new kid on the block to firmly established British accessories brand.
We were lucky enough to be invited to an intimate breakfast at Harvey Nichols Second Floor Brasserie to meet the duo behind the brand and discuss the history (and future) of Taylor Morris. In a quiet section of the restaurant, we took our seats for breakfast (Berry and Pumpkin Seed Granola followed by Poached Egg and Smoked Salmon Muffin) surrounded by bowls of Hydrangea which were topped with the new range of Taylor Morris Eyewear.
Now stocked globally with Harvey Nichols (UK, UAE and Hong Kong) and other major retailers including Fenwick and Sunglass Hut and many more locations, Taylor Morris’ style has evolved utilising the most modern techniques in manufacturing but retained their founding principles of using only the highest quality components such as handmade Italian acetate from Mazzucchelli and precision cut hinges from OBE in Germany.
SS16 introduces extensions to existing styles in exciting new colour ways. Hugo and Charlie were particularly inspired by the unique patterns in naturally occurring marbles, granites and crystals, having used them as inspirations to create bespoke exclusive acetates. Hugo helped us pick out this lovely pair of marbled Chelsea Cateye sunglasses, the perfect addition to our sunglasses collection!
Two particular favourites are the Red Verona Marble RollRight, and the Black and white marble Saratoga II. SS16 also introduces Taylor Morris’ new frame, ZERO. Utilising completely flat lenses, intricately engraved metal work and titanium nose pads, this luxurious frame comes in 4 distinct colour ways ranging from classic and gentlemanly to eccentric and modern.
This duality in aesthetics has helped Taylor Morris attract a wide range of customers and further confounds the collaborative partnership of Hugo and Charlie’s design ethos. “To think that we only started with 11 frames and now we are pushing 50 is a great achievement. I love that our collection has something for everyone but still retains a clear identity and style as Taylor Morris. Our new frame ZERO, is a gamble, but thus far the response has been overwhelming both from friends, editors and also from buyers!”

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast date with the designer duo who have both played major roles in design, production and promotion of their brand. We can’t wait for SS16 now so we can rock our new Chelsea glasses in Manchester!
