Beauty Editor Coral shares her shopping buys with us for review, this weeks hot topic is the Hot Lips Lipstick collection by Charlotte Tilbury.
“After much lusting and drooling over absolutely EVERYTHING on the Charlotte Tilbury website, I finally decided what shade of the new Hot Lips collection I wanted to go for.
The collection boasts 16 lipsticks, each inspired by and in collaboration with “some of the world’s most inspiring celebrity women.” Also £1 from each lipstick sold was donated to Women for Women International during the first two months of sales. Shades include Kidman’s Kiss, a beautiful blush pink, Secret Salma, a more plum based nude, Hel’s Bells, a deep purple and Hot Emily, a frosty looking coral pink.
There are also a few fan favourites included, Nude Kate, a cool toned biscuit-nude, Very Victoria, a dusty pink-brown nude, Penelope Pink, a pale pinky brown based nude and Sexy Sienna, a more subdued looking coral pink compared to Hot Emily which is a little deeper and brighter.
After choosing a shade, I loved being able to see what the colour looked like on every skin tone, through on the lipstick page there not only is a swatch of the shade but also a list of photos which showcase how it looks on all skin tones. Not many websites do this so well done Charlotte.
The shade I went for was Super Cindy which is a very soft caramel brown nude inspired by Cindy Crawford. I’ve always had a bit of a ‘thing’ for 90’s brown lips (who doesn’t?) and Cindy was and is widely known for wearing gorgeous nude tones.
A few things to note:
- Finish- a soft, non drying matte which didn’t sink in to the lips natural creases.
- Packaging- a sturdy, ridged, rose gold bullet and the Charlotte Tilbury logo on the top of the lid. Very pretty.
- Longevity- I have been wearing this lipstick a lot, nearly every day for the past few weeks, applying in the morning and only needing to touch it up at lunchtime after I ate and even then I was probably just being paranoid as the lipstick was still in tact after eating and drinking.
- Appearance- The tip is square and angled which made it extremely easy to apply. I also loved the fact there was a little kiss imprinted in the side- such a lovely little touch.
In order to write a fair review, I went one full day without touching up my lips and took the lipstick off just before bed, even after eating greasy pizza there was still some colour on my lips- only slightly faded in the centre, very impressive.
The only issue I would slightly touch upon is, this did happen only once, I found it left me with the dreaded white ring around my lips which I actually realised was down to applying the lipstick on top of some left over foundation on my lips! So I would suggest applying this onto clean, smooth lips for a perfect application.
I found this lipstick super easy to apply, it felt beautifully soft and light on the lips and the colour is definitely buildable. My lips felt hydrated, which is rare for matte lipsticks, and they also felt fuller which was a definite bonus.”
