Welsh music event Festival No.6 has decided to take a break next year, with indefinite information available on how and when it will return in festival news which will sadden fans.
It seems the Portmeirion incarnation of the festival will be seeing you no more as the announcement heavily hinted that the venue could not support the event in much capacity in future, if at all.
It is a shame for small festivals all round, as No.6 had the idyllic feature which so many festivals lack; intimacy. With a limited capacity and a village, castle, grounds, woods, beach and field to roam it functioned like a mini break where you could wander at your own leisure and partake in activity whilst enjoying the arts and music entertainment onstage.
In a statement, Festival No.6 said: “In six short years the profile of the festival has far outgrown its intimate capacity, picking up numerous awards, gaining international recognition and becoming one of the world’s most unique festivals. We always knew we had something special but we never quite expected it to capture people’s imagination the way it has.
Running Festival No.6 hasn’t been without its challenges. Portmeirion is a complex site and we’ve had fun adapting and reinventing the festival every year but unfortunately No.6 is just not sustainable in its current format and so we’ve made the difficult decision to take a breather – 2018 will be the last Festival No.6 for now. We will of course be throwing an almighty party this year and will make sure it’s the most outstanding No.6 to date!”
If you want to experience the festival in it’s current format we heavily recommend snapping up the few remaining tickets. It’s easily ranked top amongst our festivals experienced so be sure not to miss out.
