Having already aired our expectations in what we want from fashion this year, we thought it natural to follow up with the same for beauty and make up brands.
Whilst beauty lifestyle has come a long, long way over the years, there is always room for improvement as the landscape continues to shift and move with the times. Here are our top things we want from beauty in 2018.
Striking that balance between the coverage you want whilst still letting your freckles show through is difficult for the untrained beauty buyer, which makes it all the harder when brands don’t consider this integral to most of their products. Here’s to hoping for better light coverage foundations in the future.
The monumental success of Fenty beauty alone is enough to show the industry that the world is crying out for a good selection of shades from pale to dark. It may seem simple, but a lot of the bigger brands just haven’t caught up enough to cater to a mix of shades yet and it’s a change we want to see fast.
We get that trends come and go, but it seems at the moment many brands are being sheep to the top instagram trends, rather than diversifying to set those trends themselves. Unicorn brushes, berry palettes and gold highlighter all just feels like ‘been there, done that’ and we would love to see more brands taking risks and paving the way of future trends.
Whether it’s bronzer, powder or eyeshadow it’s a minefield to go through the trial and error process of finding products with little excess or fall-down. For on-the-go beauty fans such as ourselves, who spend many a day doing a quick change in their car for meetings or events, it’s frustrating to hastily apply make up, only for it to go everywhere, especially all over your outfit.
