January 24, 2012

STYLEetc’s Anna-Louise and Marianne were lucky enough to pay a visit to Manchester’s prestigious Rosso restaurant to sample there new lunchtime menu.

Rosso Luntime review

The new lunch menu is a fantastic offering whereby you can enjoy 2 courses PLUS a bottle of wine between 2 diners for £12.95 per person during January.

Rosso Luntime review

When first walking in to the restaurant, you are struck by the exquisite surroundings of marble and the sheer grandness of the restaurant itself. When guided to our table, it is clear to see that the restaurant caters to all with there being a mix of the corporate market carrying out meetings over lunch, to those taking a break from their shopping so as to relax.

The Service
Our lunch may cost less than when attending in the evening but I can say that this by no means affects the levels of attentiveness from the staff. From the second we walked through the door, all members of staff that served us were polite, accommodating and ensured that our dining experience was a pleasurable one.

The Food
After much deliberating I chose the Parmigiana di Melanzane which consisted of layers of grilled aubergine, fresh basil, mozzarella and tomato sauce topped with parmesan cheese, followed by a stunning rib-eye steak finished with spinach, button mushroom and a red wine sauce set over herbed mash potato.
Anna-Louise, being vegetarian, chose for starter the Insalata con Barbabietole which consisted of fresh beetroot & buffalo mozzarella, with a walnut and rocket salad, followed by the Pappardelle alla Montanara. This was a very generous helping of think egg pasta ribbons with Porcini mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and Scamorza.
Once we had chosen, Brian the Head Waiter came over to recommend a wine to accompany our meal which was a rich Merlot which complemented our meals perfectly.
Our meal was finished off with a Moroccan Peppermint tea, leaving us satisfied and ready to face the afternoon meetings.

Rosso Lunchtime review

Each helping was generous and beyond enjoyable which are not necessarily words you would associate with a lunchtime menu offering!

The decor is stunning, the service second to none and the food delicious!

Whatever you lunch time requirements – be it business or pleasure – Rosso is the perfect city centre destination!
