PLAY Expo Manchester, the largest video game expo in the North of England, announced that they are to host the Red Bull 5G, with the official northern qualifier of the competition taking place exclusively at the show.
Returning for its fifth year at EventCity on October 8 and 9, the legendary video game expo promised to be the biggest and best yet, inviting the region’s best gamers to take part in the tournament, battle it out for supremacy and play for a coveted space at the Red Bull 5G final taking place in November 2016.
Originating in Japan where the first tournament took place in 2012, the Red Bull 5G is inspired by traditional 5 vs 5 martial arts tournaments, playing homage to the classic rivalry between east and west, and a growing culture of competitive gaming.
With a grand prize of an all-expenses paid trip to Japan in December, those entering the tournament selected their game of choice from five critically-acclaimed titles across five different genres. Gamers chose from Hearthstone™, League of Legends™, Project Cars™, Rocket League™ or Street Fighter™ V.
