Next is one of the UK’s most recognisable high street brands and on Wednesday, they invited us to their Manchester Arndale store to try on the latest lingerie for summer.
With a select guest list, we we’re treated to bubbles and cupcakes while Celebrity Stylist Martine Alexander talked us through the importance of a good fitting bra. She told us that when styling, its important to start with the right underwear foundations to make sure that the outfit you wear then looks streamlined. After talking us through Next’s range of five bra’s, all named after girls of course, we we’re able to try them on and make sure we were wearing the right size!
80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra!
Next have a dedicated team of bra fitters, expertly trained in sizing you up without even using a tape measure! Our fitter Molly then selected two type of bra’s for me to try; the Carrie plunge bra and the Phoebe Balcony bra. Whilst both fitted great, and came in a range of different colours and prints, I loved the Carrie Plunge bra because of the shape and lift that it created. Molly also told me that when fitting your bra, the shoulder straps shouldn’t be tightened more that 5 centimetres from the bottom of the bra! This is something new to me as I’ve always worn my extra tight to make sure that I have enough support whilst I’m running around the shops!
After deciding on my style and size of bra, it was time for the hardest decision; which colour?! After much deliberation, I decided to go for this neon coral bra, a perfect addition to my holiday wardrobe. Next kindly gifted each of us with the bra of our choice and I even treated myself to the matching briefs because I think most of you girls would agree that there’s something good about wearing matching lingerie! Even Miranda Kerr said that ‘Sexy underwear gives you a spark!’ I was also surprised at the cost of the lingerie; I have been known to spend over £40 on a bra but the range in Next starts from just £10! The bra I choose was £16 while the matching briefs were £8.
We were then treated to an amazing 3 course meal at Hotel Gotham. Most of us had never visited the new 1930s inspired hotel before and stepping through the golden doors into the lobby felt like being transported back in time!
Once seated in the sixth floor restaurant, we made our way through our food which included Gotham Stock, Chicken and Ham Pie, Rich Man’s Fish and Chips, Wild Mushroom Tortellini, Egg Custard and Manchester Tart Brûlée. Regular readers will know how much of a fussy eater I am, but you’ll be pleased to know I ate everything! All of us left the hotel in a food coma whilst carrying our new favourite piece of Next Lingerie.
You can visit the store for your own bra fitting in Manchester Arndale and rest assured the girls will make sure you’re walking away with the best fitting bra and a smile on your face.
