Blogger Spotlight today focuses on Manchester based fashion and lifestyle blogger Emma of Sarcasm and Style. Regular readers may remember Emma as a writer for STYLEetc. who now works in Marketing for EGO footwear. We chatted with Emma to discover how her blog has shaped her career and what she thinks of the local blogger community.
How did you get into blogging?
Around 3 years ago I was lost in what I wanted to do for my career, but yet knew fashion was the path I’d always wanted to pursue. The only thing was, how? Especially when so many brands/agencies etc wanted experience, I needed to find somehow to get this. And that’s where Sarcasm and Style came from!
Why do you blog?
Purely and simply because I love it. I never expected to, but I seriously do!
How has blogging affected your career choices?
Blogging has literally opened so many doors for me, and one’s you wouldn’t expect. From freelance writing to gaining the job of my dreams in fashion marketing, my blog continues to surprise me daily. My blog didn’t affect my career choices but boosted it for the better.
Where do you hope to go with your blog in future?
I hope to continue forward with Sarcasm and Style, shoot more outfit shots and just allow it to grow with me, showing every different experience and change of style as I get older (urgh, haha).
What strategy do you use for your blog?
I simply post when and what I want to post. In the past I’d been so reliant on posting lots and when everyone did, but it’s seriously not feasible. You’ll come to realise after a while what your blogging style is, and what you can do.
What advice do you have for new bloggers?
Have faith in yourself (as I seriously didn’t at the start), stick to your niche, your tone of voice and have fun!
Who are you favourite brands?
They vary completely, but I’d say: H&M, Zara, Primark, Marks & Spencer and SO many more.
What is your favourite trend of the season?
Denim-Double, triple or singularly, it’s just cool as.
How would you describe your personal style?
Very classic UK with an Emma twist. I do love to experiment with the trends.
What is your impression of the Manchester blogging community?
Flat out amazing. When I first started and went to my very first event I was SO scared. However, half an hour later and several drinks I’d met some amazing people, and still continue to do so. Although the events aren’t as frequent as they used to be, we all still chat in a group a LOT.
