A joyous evening of drinking, dancing and celebrating, the Northern Blog Awards provided a light to shine on our regions brightest and best talents within the blogging community, spreading the spirit of community and inclusiveness.
Set in Manchester for the launch year of the awards, the Principal Hotel was the venue of choice. The hotel made the ideal location choice for the ‘red carpet’ dress code, paving way for attendees with impressive architecture and exquisite dining service. All guests were treated to a three course meal along with their ticket, with complementary fizz and wine also on hand to keep bloggers merry throughout proceedings.
An evening to remember
After a plentiful supply of food the winners were announced, with plenty of whoops and cheers for favourite nominees before the winner was revealed of each category.
STYLEetc played a hand in selecting the nominees, whittling down the entries to finalists and making up part of the winning vote for Best Fashion Blogger. The winner was the extremely worthy Salt and Chic who impressed ourselves and the voters online with her signature fashion and standout photography.
What was apparent throughout the night was the sense of community spirit, it wasn’t about winning or losing, the evening was a celebration of all bloggers and in particular what the north accomplish, offering talent to rival the london-centric big influencers.
Categories covered the key blog areas, ranging from fashion to food, including; beauty, travel, lifestyle, parenting and something different. Nominees refreshingly covered blogs of all audience sizes, ranging from single thousand followers to six figure numbers.
The winners clearly demonstrated an unbiased approach to judging also, with winners not selected on their follower numbers but purely scored by the content, passion and work they put into building their own unique brands.
Run by northern blogger Holly Wood, the awards also made the ideal opportunity to launch Holly’s sister project, We Blog North (formerly known as We Blog MCR). The venture was expanded to cover the whole north of the UK, after overwhelming interest declared opportunity to support bloggers across the region.
The event attracted some large sponsors, with the biggest supporter being Key 103 who provided music and hosting through the night. Charities also used the platform to spread the word of their admirable work as Christie’s and Forget Me Not took time to advertise their works across not only the North West but the whole UK.
