Last weekend, thousands of people turned out at Heaton Park as HOLI ONE, one of the UK’s most unique music festivals, brought its festival to Manchester for the second year in a row and STYLEetc were lucky enough to be there too!
After much anticipation, thousands of music lovers soaked up a packed day of colour, excitement and entertainment from a host of local bands, despite the rain that kept threatening to turn our powder to paint!
Stephan Dau, founder of HOLI ONE Colour Festivals, was amazed at the turnout. He said: “We were overwhelmed with the number of people that attended the event this year. This is the second time we have bought HOLI ONE to Manchester and the atmosphere was electric to say the least!”
With an initially stormy start to the day, by the afternoon the clouds parted and the sun casted its warm rays on the crowd who enjoyed dance and DJ music. One of our favourite acts was So Called Scumbags! My only criticism of the event is that it would have been great to have a big name DJ on the lineup.
We gathered at HOLI ONE to throw powders into the air to create an explosion of colour and excitement aimed at celebrating togetherness and the colour of everyday life. Along with our competition winners, we joined in the crowds and turned our white outfits into a technicolour rainbow!
HOLI ONE coloured powder comes in Pink Bikini, Violet Secret, Blue Lagoon, Green Planet, Yellow Sunrise and Juicy Orange. The cosmetic coloured powder can be used wet or dry and is lung safe but we’d recommend bringing goggles or glasses to protect your eyes. The powder gets everywhere but its definitely an experience that everyone should try once!
Last year, HOLI ONE Colour festivals were attended by 100,000 people worldwide and took place across cities and countries that included London, South Africa and Berlin. This summer, the HOLI ONE UK tour will take place in Newcastle, Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Plymouth, London, Leeds, Nottingham, Dublin, Belfast and Bristol/Bath.
Make sure you are following @STYLE_etc for all the details on the next HOLI ONE! We can’t wait for next year!
