It’s that magical time of year when those who channel the festive spirit rejoice jubilantly at the return of the Christmas Markets and others become resounding grinches, going into hiding until festivities die down come January. If you’re of the former you’ll be pleased to hear Bar Hutte has returned to Manchester’s City Centre location for another year.
Set up on Spinningfields Square, just in front of the Armani store off Deansgate, Bar Hutte offers a little piece of Christmas in it’s corderned off gated environment. Stepping in, the festive feeling is overwhelming, as lights are strewn across the outer area, leading way to a main cabin (the Apres Ski Bar) which features full Christmas decor, seating, a bar and even a few fireplaces for good measure.
The Apres Ski bar is the main bar and seating area for walk ins to dwell, with the outer section additionally offering bar stools and tables to sit. Upon our visit an acoustic performance was underway by a live singer dressed in typical Christmas gear, adding to that oh-so-Christmassy feel of the venue. Food is also on offer from an opposing stand and can be ordered on demand.
On the opposite side exclusive huts are placed for privacy, each customisable to offer ‘Carol-oke’ with booths to sit in and lighting options. These self-dubbed Disco booths don’t just rely on the guests to make the entertainment, with stacks of Christmas tunes on offer to play at your desire. These little safe havens offer escapism from the mad Manchester rush of frantic Christmas shoppers, allowing a chance to relax and enjoy a tipple.
On the subject of drinks, the selection on offer were a little pricey, which is as to be expected considering the rising demand of the Christmas Markets in Manchester at present. Bespoke festive alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were in supply, with choices ranging from hot to cold. Cocktails dominate the menu selection, with standout drinks offering Gingerbread Prosecco and Hot Apple, Cinnamon and Rum to offer something a little different from your usual haunt.
Bar Hutte will be open daily from 11am to 11pm throughout the season, closing only on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Reservations can be made for two hour slots for groups of 6-10 people wth a non-refundable deposit of £20. Bigger parties can also enquire to hire multiple huttes.
