Towering above the top of the iconic King Street is the opulent and quirky Hotel Gotham which within boasts a humble yet befitting Honey Restaurant up for review. As an award winning property on Manchester’s hospitality scene, Hotel Gotham provides a luxurious experience with just a touch of excitement.
At the forefront of the press is the elusive Club Brass which offers amazing panoramic views of the city centre. Another notable feature is the decadent inner-sanctum suite where the attention to detail and eccentric interior has mad
STYLEetc. were kindly invited to discover the modern British cuisine that the in-house Honey Restaurant has to offer. Tucked away on the sixth floor of Hotel Gotham is a restaurant with “atmosphere and a bit of a bite”. We were greeted by a lovely host and seated by one of beautiful window seats overlooking King Street.
The atmosphere was very relaxing and calm as the summer evening sun shone through the windows into the airy dining area. The waiting staff were absolutely wonderful. If you wanted any recommendations they would be very attentive and amiable as required, however when you were enjoying the dining experience it was as if you were the only people in the restaurant.
To commence, we opted for the Jerk Pigeon, Banana Bread and Macadamia alongside the Scallop & Fennel with Cherry and Bitter Chocolate. The pigeon was cooked pink and juicy and the flavours of the complimented it perfectly. The scallops were cooked beautifully and the favours were well balanced. For drinks we ordered a bottle of Cave de Massé Colombard-Ugni Blanc which was an elegant and subtle white wine.
To follow, we chose the Duck Breast, Chorizo, Carrot and Herb Mash with the charred Cumbrian Charolais Beef, Tomato Compote, Rocket and Parmesan. On the side, we ordered some Skinny Fries with Parmesan and Herb Crumb. The Duck breast was absolutely divine. The flavours were exquisite but not too rich. The steak was cooked to perfection and it is evident that Honey work with local North West producers to secure the best produce and ingredients. The quality of the food and presentation are worth the deluxe price tag and Honey really does add something extra to the fantastic Manchester foodie scene.
To finish, we indulged with the Peanut Butter Pie with Raspberry and Honeycomb and the Banana Mousse. After two delicious courses we could have shared a dessert, however it was lovely to experience two completely different flavour combinations from the dessert menu. We ended up spending the entire evening enjoying the Honey restaurant experience, atmosphere and fine dining menu.
This stylish addition to the Manchester food scene lives up to all expectations.
