Autumn may not have the hype of Christmas but there are those of us (yes us included) who love to celebrate the transitional season, with Halloween and Bonfire Night what’s not to love? We’ve rounded up some ideas for how to feel Autumnal and make the most of the current season.
Food and Drink
A key highlight of autumn is the reappearance of Costa and Starbucks seasonal menus. Pumpkin Spiced Lattes have become an integral part of many coffee lovers Autumn, ideal for Instagram snaps and feeling cosy on those brisk mornings.
Costa sees the start of it’s Christmas drinks filter through to stores, with promises of Lindt Hot Chocolate, Candy Cane Hot Chocolate and Salted Caramel Cappuccino.
All pumpkin related recipes are also a must, with BBC Good Food giving the best insights to make your own Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Cakes, Pumpkin Soup and even Pumpkin Pancakes.
Sweets also get better as the excuse begins to start indulging on Halloween chocolate and stocking up on Bonfire Lollies.
Home Decor
Tis the season to invite warmer hues into your life and get your home cosy in time for Christmas. Stocking up on fluffy throw blankets and velvet cushions is a must, as is assessing your candle situation and visiting Yankee Candle if short.
Colourwise go for orange and brown tones to truly channel the season, or opt for purples and midnight blue if you want to take an alternate route with your interiors.
Fairy lights are made for Autumn, allowing a cute way to keep your garden lit and pinterest-worthy (be sure to buy the outdoor sort if using there).
Halloween decorations mustn’t be forgotten as you get ready for the best holiday of the year (besides Christmas). Wilko and Asda are good stops to stock up on spooky homeware and hangings.
Autumn Fashion
With Summer over you can finally start dressing cosy again, inviting knitwear and faux-fur back into your life. Ideal if you plan to indulge this Christmas (we do), loose fitting clothing and warm textures are high on the agenda.
Coats give us life with the array of structured choices to pick from. From wool overcoats to leather macs, you’re spoilt for choice with the variety to shop from in Autumn 2017.
Current trends favoured by our team include patent leather outerwear, sock boot heels and neon knitwear.
Asos and Missguided are kings for affordable options. Statement bags are also on our list to update, with the likes of Mulberry, Prada and Gucci capturing attention with their to-die-for range of new season hues.
Manchester Events
Manchester City Centre gets a makeover for Halloween again this year, following last year’s Halloween in the City. A Wizard themed bar also pops-up at the Trafford Centre for a limited time only.
Spooky screenings will be open at Victoria Baths, showing scary movies including Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus and the Addams Family.
Bonfire Night equally offers plenty to do as Heaton Park does it’s usual display on 5th November, complete with Bonfire, rides, food stalls and more.
There will also be a fireworks display at the Ethiad Stadium on 4th November with more details to come.
