If there was ever an occasion to take your loved one to the most acclaimed restaurants in town, Valentine’s Day is definitely the one. So don’t make a last minute reservation… this year is about dining in style!
Vermilion & Cinnabar is a destination tucked away near the City of Manchester Stadium, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, yet still a short five minute taxi ride from Piccadilly. A guard stands at the glass doors, and guests are escorted from arrival and throughout the evening, making it perfect to leave your responsibilities at home, and just enjoy the company of someone special in an exclusive venue.
If you arrive early you can enjoy Cinnabar whilst your table is being prepared at Vermilion. The ambience at Cinnabar really sets the tone for the evening. Underneath the dim bauble shaped lights, which slowly change colour, there are cocoons which can be hired out for small parties as well as cosy tables for smaller groups. All over the bar are carefully placed incense sticks that fill the room with rich aromas. Throughout the evening a DJ plays exotic electro tunes which hum through the air. Their range of drinks includes an amazing range of cocktails (I would recommend the Singapore Sling!), as well as the classic champagnes, and a range of spirits and beers.
The 1st floor is Vermilion, where the décor is renowned and as breath-taking as you would expect. Huge red pillars, marble tables, secluded areas and hanging lights which all contribute to the opulent red hues, this is all surrounding a centre pieces of glowing Buddha heads which stretches from Vermillion right up to Cinnabar.
The two most distinguishing features of Vermilion are the food and the service. The Asian infused menu predominantly influenced by Thai and Indian dishes and is full of flavour. There are also some standout seafood dishes. We opted for the Indian Mix Starter Platter (£15.95) which comprised of prawns in light batter and beautifully marinated chicken and lamb. This was followed by Tandoori Mixed Grill (£19.95) which was a tandoori feast!
If you don’t mind sharing your food, the portions are easily enough for two people and that includes the mains. This could add a romantic feel to the dining experience but there is also a specific five course set menu that has been carefully crafted for Valentine’s Day.
The service is impeccable. Staff refill your wine before you realise it is empty, give you shining recommendations from the menu, and discreetly pick up your jacket if it has slid off your chair!
Whether you are dining as a group or impressing that lucky someone, Vermilion and Cinnabar provide an evening to be remembered at an ultra-chic venue. I recommend you book a table before they’re all gone!
