Last week, we published our interview with interior designer to the stars, Abigail Ahern, as she brings her eclectic style to high street retailer Debenhams. This week, we take you through the doors to her amazing house and find out where she gets her own style from. We have serious house envy!
How would you describe your style?
My décor style is classic with a twist. It’s quite hard to define, as I reference so many periods and styles. I like interiors to be glamorous, laid-back, sophisticated and a little bit moody and edgy.
Shh! That’s not an actual book case! Buy the wallpaper here!
What is your favourite room in the house? Talk us through your own home’s decor.
I love being downstairs in my house, it’s all open plan, and we have huge two-storey windows at the back, so I feel very close to nature. I can still sit right next to the garden, even when I’m inside! I just revamped a little downstairs nook, so (for now!) that’s my favourite spot in the house. I added a few cacti from my new collection, a hammered gold table and a big black vessel, and it’s turned the whole space around big time. I don’t know why I didn’t do it years ago.
My house has completely changed over the years. When we first moved in I opted for a Scandinavian vibe, with the whole place painted white, and some wood accents. As my own style developed I started to experiment more, particularly playing around with colours and textures.
Now the house has totally evolved as my tastes have changed – from minimal and white, to inky colours and maximalist! It’s recently just gone through another change as I’ve painted it in my own palette of Abigail Ahern paint colours. It’s even darker and more glam than ever, and I love it!
