As Vogue Fashion’s Night Out draws closer, we want to highlight that the night is not just about fashion, food and champagne! It is also about raising support and awareness for global charity, Save the Children and regional charity, Dress for Success.
Throughout the evening, many of the stores taking part will be selling the official VFNO t-shirt (seen above and below on model Sam Rollinson), priced at £18. The shirt has been designed with Manchester inspired sports motifs and will be supplied by GAP.
The proceeds of the t-shirt sales will go towards Save the Children, an international charity which creates lasting change for children in need, in 120 countries around the world. Their current campaign aims to help the 3.1 million children in war-torn Syria, by providing food, safe water, medicine and shelter. The t-shirts can be bought from GAP, Hugo Boss, Flannels where fashion designer by Matthew Williamson will be signing shirts, or from a big yellow Selfridges van in Exchange Square with a surprise celebrity inside!
The second charity which will also benefit from the night is Dress for Success, an international not-for-profit organisation that helps women on low incomes back into paid employment by providing smart, professional work attire, interview training and support, styling and confidence tips.
Founder of DFS, Anna-Louise Gilhooley, said: “We are all about giving women who have had a tough time the confidence to go back to work. It is a great opportunity to give back to the community, and it is that Greater Manchester community that we need to support us in our mission”
This is further highlighted by Head Stylist and Chief Operating Officer, Liz Page, who says: “All clothing donated goes towards helping women develop higher self-esteem and the skills that they need to enter the job market.”
On the night of October 10th, you can drop off any smart clothes, in good condition, to various shops including Simply Be, Oasis, and LK Bennett. Not only are these stores acting as drop off points for your clothes, Ted Baker, Long Tall Sally and Jaeger will also be donating workwear and accessories to Dress for Success to ensure that woman are able to look the part and bag that job. Bobbi Brown, who are an international supporter of Dress for Success, will also be offering make-up lessons at House of Fraser on the night.
