Undetected for a while, STYLEetc were pleasantly surprised to uncover a taste of Italy in Manchester’s Theatre district at Don Giovannis on Oxford Street…
Don Giovannis has been a staple fixture on the Manchester scene for 28 years. Manchester Restauranteur Adam Karim, also a founder of Rosso Restaurant, recently snapped up the location and instantly gave it a fresh, contemporary look with a full refurbishment.
Entering the restaurant on an early Friday evening brought with it a sense of excitement. The bright orange décor that one could only associate with the well known champagne, veuve clicquot, brought about a sense of fun and obvious change. The crowd offered a well balanced mix from young urbanites enjoying a cocktail at the bar to the more settled suburban theatre crowd providing their seal of approval on the new a la carte menu designed by Adam and his team of experienced Italian chef’s.
Dining with a friend, we opted to share a bottle of classic Italian red and its full bodied flavour served us well throughout our tasty meal of lamb cutlets and penne arrabiata (vegetarian choice). The menu was full of variety and seemed to capture the essence of traditional Italian food, prepared with passion and culture.
For great value for money and efficient service, you can enjoy the taste of Italy and be back in the office within 45 minutes. As Don Giovannis has just launched a new menu aimed at people looking for a light, fast, delicious Italian lunch.
