Selfridges turns to constellations for it’s annual Destination Christmas retail extravaganza with this year’s theme being Journey to the Stars. We visited the store on a frosty October morning to preview the launch of Destination Christmas before the shoppers descended. There was even a visit from the big man himself!
Journey to the Stars at Selfridges will be galaxies apart from traditional snowscapes, mangers and green and red trimmings. In fact this year Selfridges will deliver its most unconventional Christmas scheme to date. Taking its creative cue from the timeless and symbolic Christmas star, the retailer will playfully explore the confines where spirituality, mysticism and even magic meet through the imaginative study of constellations. De facto, stars, planets, zodiac signs and astrology all take part in the creation of the most other-worldly festive retail experience.
Destination Christmas’ Journey to the Stars will provide a bigger and bolder mix of exclusive products, services, and in-store entertainment, alongside more spectacular, unexpected visual and windows displays than ever before. Midnight blue, gold and iridescence will feature in every product category from fashion to food in order to vividly reflect the Christmas theme.
This year, Selfridges has taken personalised gifts to whole new galaxy. Following on from the success of the nutella bar last year, its back and its bigger than ever; now featuring iPads to create your own label (no naughty words allowed!) and its own till to make sure the service runs smoothly. You can also get your name printed onto a bauble or your own Santa sack or even a bottle of your favourite tipple!
As we wandered around the store listening to Christmas music and drinking hot chocolate, we snapped our favourite Christmas treats which are sure to be sell outs this year! Including this children’s Lamborghini, Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial Gift Set and exclusive MissGuided dresses! Take a look at what we’re adding to our wishlist and let us know your thoughts!
