Our Beauty Editor Coral tries the latest Ashley Tisdale Illuminate collection.
I am a self confessed High School Musical fan. I’ve watched all the films, know the songs and unashamedly have tried and failed miserably at nearly every dance move. So when I heard that Sharpay herself, Ashley Tisdale was releasing a make up range for BH Cosmetics I couldn’t wait to find out more about it and make a few purchases. After an abundance of teasing over Snapchat and Instagram by Miss Tisdale I decided enough was enough and finally purchased the Night Goddess- 12 Colour Eye & Cheek Collection palette and also an Enhancing Lip Gloss, it’s called Coral Reef, it would’ve been rude not to.
I received my palette back at the start of August and it’s become a strong staple in my everyday make up kit. I am so happy that a celebrity product lives up to usability over brand name.
Night Goddess- 12 Colour Eye & Cheek Collection
Packaging: The outer box that this palette came in was really cute, I love the rose gold stripes against the white background and LOVE the turquoise inside. The actual palette itself, when closed it just looks a little plain if I am honest, white with pale pink stripe, kinda cardboard like, a bit boxy really. Once opened, there’s a mirror on the lid and the colour options in my opinion are enough to make up for the plainness.
Colour: This palette is made up of a mixture of shimmer shades and matte. The matte shades blend really easily and there is enough pigmentation in them however compared to the shimmer shades they don’t quite pack the same punch. The shimmer shades definitely have the upper hand, they are SO pigmented. There is a lot of browns tones along with a few bronze and golds in the palette with a matte black and shimmery plum and pink to break them up.
There is also a bronzer, highlight and blush included. Personally I use the bronzer as a transition shade on my eyes and the highlight has a beautiful rose gold tint to it so I’ve also been using that to brighten up my eyes in the inner corners and also a little underneath. The blush is the only colour I am yet to use, it runs a little too pink/coral for me but the pigmentation is unreal. As you can probably tell I am all for the that pigmentation.
L-R, Top Row: Dusk, 4 AM, Nocturnal, Moonlight, Wild Child, In The Stars.
Bottom row: Night Owl, Animal, Dangerous, After Dark, Twilight, Dawn.
Wearability/durability: Basically every colour is wearable, easy to blend and highly pigmented, as previously mentioned many a time! The colours range from matte browns, shimmery golds and rose golds to matte black and shimmery deep plum as mentioned above. Also as I briefly stated, I am yet to use the bronzer or blush for their intended purposes as when I swatched them they didn’t seem like they would suit my particular skin tone, I am quite pale. I love my Hoola bronzer and Rockateur blush just a little too much to swap them out for something different just yet. Hey if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it right.
Overall I would say this palette was a really strong investment, I got it for $12.50 but it normally is priced $14.50- still affordable.
Enhancing Lip Gloss in the shade Coral Reef
This lip product is available in six shades varying from shimmering deep pinks and pastel pinks to gorgeous nude browns.
Packaging: The box is the same as the one which contained the palette. Rose gold stripes on a white background, the brand name and the turquoise inside. The tube itself is a long cylinder, its transparent so you can see the product and has a white top done with a gold ring to match the gold brand logo on the side of the tube. It’s glass and very lightweight.
Colour: The shade I purchased is called Coral Reef which as you may have guessed is a gorgeous coral pink colour with a hint of shimmer.
Wearability/durability: On it’s own it has quite a bit of pigmentation on the lip, it is not as sticky as other lip glosses tend to be and it sits quite comfortably on the lip. It is fairly buildable and it would look beautiful over a matching lipstick, I actually matched it to Sunny Seoul by MAC. I have not wore this for a lengthy amount of time but as I said when I tried it out it felt comfortable, not too sticky, not too gloopy.
I purchased this for a purse friendly $8
Both items and the full Illuminate by Ashley Tisdale range is available at BH Cosmetics who ship Internationally including to the U.K.
