When I heard that Kat Von D was bringing her beauty range overseas to Debenhams I have to admit I screamed a little and happy danced a lot! Hands down this is one of my favourite beauty brands at the moment. From personal experience, the quality of product is outstanding and nothing is done in half measures, what you get for your money is truly worth every penny.
I’ve been wanting to try out the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ever since my best friend raved about it many moons ago, so decided to take the plunge and place my first purchase online with Sephora. The combination of product cost plus shipping made me shudder inside but didn’t deter from my purchase.
My item of choice was a Studded Kiss lipstick in the shade Lovecraft, not going to lie, the name alone had me sold. Definitely one of the many things I love about the Kat Von D lip products are the names and that there is such a large choice of shades. I have also heard through the grapevine (Kat’s Instagram page) that Lovecraft is going to be added to the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick family for fans to keep an eye out for.
The Bow’n’Arrow shade of my personal choice was one which had been positively reviewed previously, making all the more tempting to try for myself. Unfortunately other shoppers had the same idea and the shade was forever out of stock on Sephora’s website so I immediately tried Debenhams once the brand had launched in the UK.
Review
Colour- Bow n Arrow is a beautiful nude shade described as a fawn nude, with slight pinkish undertones. You get a very strong pigment from only one coat and there is more than enough product on the applicator wand to work into your lips after taking it out of the tube that first time.
Packaging: The tube is quite long and thin which houses a long wand with a doe foot applicator. There is a dark dream catcher effect around the rim and the lid is matte black with silver roses, it does look very pretty. The tube holds 6.6ml of product.
Wearability/Durability: One thing I will say is it is definitely “Everlasting”. Most liquid to matte lipsticks tend to dry out the lips and feel a little sticky and generally a little bit heavy and flaky even after using the proper prep methods before application. This one feels very lightweight, creamy and non flaky once dried which is definitely a plus and when you do eventually remove it, it doesn’t leave your lips dry or cracked.
To remove Bow n Arrow Everlasting Liquid Lipstick I used Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, which you can pick up from Superdrug or Boots. Easily applied to a cotton pad and gently buffed the product wiped off with no fuss. The formula dries down to matte quickly and with very little cracking.
As for wear this lipstick lasts a whole day, granted you follow the top Liquid Lipstick rules, no rubbing your lips together, no oil or grease, drink with a straw when you can etc. I’ve drank coffee, Diet Coke (with straw and without), red wine, ate greasy pizza, Chinese takeaway, spaghetti, cake, literally all of my favourite foods and drinks and the results have still been pretty strong.
Obviously like with all lip products the centre of the lip is first to show any signs of budging, even if it’s only slightly, this is easily topped up. Which for the record doesn’t cause a cake effect, simply fill in any space that has lost a bit of colour with very little product and very gently, lightly press your lips together to blend. Simple. If you want to wear this lipstick out for drinks, dinner, a night out then it definitely gets a thumbs up from me.
Overall this product is a comfortable, wearable matte liquid lipstick that doesn’t require too much maintenance once applied and Icertainly agree it lives up to the hype, so much so that I now have my eye on a few more shades from the collection.
