Rambert’s The Castaways at The Lowry Centre

Highly acclaimed, ever-fresh and inventive dance company Rambert is presenting its newest venture, which combines four stunning contrasting pieces, from their take on the once controversial Après-midi D’un Faune to the title piece, set against an aural backdrop of Yiddish and popular American music.

Meet the Artist: Keith Proctor at Castle Galleries

Meet the man who captures the uplifting innocence of childhood like no-one else. Many of his works, which project a masterful observation of human anatomy, movement and lighting against dappled, dreamlike backgrounds, are currently on sale at Castle Galleries, but their creator himself will be present for one day only.

Mahler’s Companions at The Bridgewater Hall

Led by lauded Austrian conductor HK Gruber and featuring soprano Lucy Hall, the ever-popular BBC Philharmonic is plunging into the depths of new works created to accompany the legendary symphonies of Gustav Mahler. Expect wrenchingly beautiful conflicting highs and lows as these four pieces breathe a new life into the writing of this powerful romantic composer.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Radio Show…Live! at the Manchester Opera House
(8th & 9th October)
Take the rare opportunity to witness a live production of Douglas Adams’ absolutely bonkers sci-fi comedy series. With Red Dwarf’s Danny John-Jules as the voice of the book on the 8th and comedienne Shappi Khorsandi taking over on the 9th, along with appearances from members of the original cast, The Hitchhiker’s Guide promises a night of top-notch British humour with a multitude of special effects and music provided by a live band.
