The inspiring urban landscape Escape to Freight Island is now open seven days a week this summer season. From Monday to Wednesday, the venue will open its festival-inspired outdoor area for a unique al fresco dining experience with live fire BBQs and DJs. In addition to this Good Life Skates have added daily themed skate sessions to their upstairs residency.

The BBQs offering will be served by Escape to Freight Island’s very own Mayfield County Smokehouse – featuring Smoked Shoulder of Yorkshire Lamb with smoke anchovy harissa and served with smokehouse pickles and white bread; and Smoked Highland Cheshire Beef Brisket with red-eye gravy served with tin loaf, smokehouse pickles and slaw. Other fixings include deep fried gherkins, smoked bone marrow and onion mash, and highland beef short-rib poutine.
New for the summer, Escape to Freight Island will present a DJ workshop series for kids aged 11 and over every Monday from 6.30pm until 9pm in collaboration with Manchester’s club series Meat Free – launching on Monday 18th July. Escape to Freight Island is also offering 50% off for industry worker every Monday and Tuesday. The industry discount card is available to pick up at Escape to Freight Island by showing proof of employment in the hospitality industry.
Good Life Skates, is also announcing its new four-day regular programming every Thursday to Sunday.
Inspired by the new generation of roller skaters, from underground Berlin to the sidewalks of Brooklyn and LA, Good Life Skates has been a welcome addition to Manchester following its opening in June. The 8,000-square-foot roller rink is located on the indoor mezzanine level of Escape to Freight Island.
Kicking off on Thursdays with “The Big Rainbow Roll Out” for an inclusive queer skate session from 8-10pm. Fridays is for “Rolling with the Homies”, a hip-hop and RnB night from 8-10pm. Pop lovers won’t want to miss “Pop Classics with Hits Radio” on Saturdays from 10am-8pm, then a Stop, Pop & Roll for a fun sing-along from 8-10pm. Sundays are all about the “Soul Skate” from 2-6pm and a 3-hour Skate Jam session for £5 from 6-9pm.
Prices start at £8.50/hr and £12/2hr for off peak sessions. Peak hours are priced at £10/hr and £18/2hr session. Bring Your Own Boots (BYOB) offers are priced at £7/hr and £12/2hr session.
