When it comes to curlers, the market is over-saturated with choice at the moment. Current trends see big curls stay strong across Instagram and even crimps are making a comeback this summer (albeit not for everyone).
Shopping for your ideal curling accessory can differ according to your budget, your hair and your preferred outcome (whether looking for big and bouncy or loose and wavy). How Does it Perform?
Extra protection is also offered with the inclusion of a glove to help you manoeuvre tricky sections and avoid burns (always a plus). The tool works fast, making achieving natural, messy curls a doddle. We were impressed by how easy it was to use and the quality of the curls themselves. This was tested on naturally wavy hair and produced relatively springy curls that looked lovely when brushed out. The curls held well for a good few hours, this was enhanced by a little hairspray for extra security.
3 Ways to Use
1. Loose Beachy Waves
Separate your hair into sections, then starting with the back take grouped sections of hair (as wide as suits you, depending on your hair type) and use the wand 3/4 of the way up. Make your way through all of the hair until you have curls that don’t go right to the root. Add a touch of curl spray and then take a brush through the curls, ever so lightly, to achieve a loose wave. Secure with some hairspray for some extra hold and you’re all set.
2. Asymmetric Volume
Part your hair heavily to one side and follow the aforementioned method of parting your hair bit by bit to curl in sections. Using some product, sleek the side of hair that has less hair to it and secure with a decadent hair clip. Use hairspray to give further volume to your curls on the opposite side, using your fingers to mess your hair a bit for a more relaxed look.
3. Springy Ponytail
Curl your hair throughout, making sure to only take small sections of hair at a time. Be sure to only curl from half way down your hair (otherwise you’ll get bumps in your up-do). Take two strands forward and leave these to frame your face. Use a small brush or comb to slick your hair into a high ponytail and use either an invisibobble or thin band the same colour as your hair to tightly secure. Brush the ponytail to merge the curls lightly and secure the finished result with some spray.
Value for Money?
For £29.99, you can’t really go wrong. For the design of the product, we’d expect a higher price point. The fact it i so affordable just makes us love this product all the more.
Yes, you can invest in something more expensive that will offer some more versatility in terms of curl types and settings, but for your basic day-to-day Remington is a good option for most.
