STYLEetc first brought you news of Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar earlier this week as the launch of Salvi’s Italian Nights, offering the chance to dine on authentic Italian food whilst learning the language of love simultaneously. However at STYLEetc we wanted to investigate a little further into this hotly tipped restaurant situated on the outskirts of the Triangle in Manchester’s City centre.
Unlike the barrage of Italian restaurants that pepper the city, this is one with a true difference. With all produce imported weekly from Italy, it is clear to see that the restaurants ethos is quality over quantity.
When you first walk into the deli it appears to be just that, a deli. However if you venture further back into the restaurant there are tables so as to enjoy a sit down meal. Myself and my dining companion struggled to make it past the fresh produce for sale, already mapping out our next dinner with what we could buy!
Once seated the very friendly (and of course Italian!) proprietor came over to introduce himself and to see what we were in the mood for. Once we explained that we loved all that was showcased within the deli counter he instructed his chefs to bring us a platter that would allow us to sample a little bit of everything.
Tagliere di 3 Salami e 3 formaggi (£15.95 for 2 people sharing) was delivered to us along with 3 Mozzarella di Bufala Campana D.O.P (£8.95), a taste of 3 types of Bufala Mozzerella including the mouthwatering Provola which is a smoked Mozerella, a definite first for me!
Alongside this platter was another of breads with award-winning oils, one slice brushed with fresh tomatoes, one with pesto and one with Taleggio cheese (£4.50). I was advised that these had been arranged on the chopping board to intentionally represent the Italian flag ahead of Sundays match, a stark reminder that we are in the midst of a football frenzy!
There was not one part of either of these platters that my dining partner and I did not enjoy! Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar allows the diner to take in at an Italian pace (we were there for an hour and a half just eating our platter!) and at no point did we feel rushed. In fact it appeared that all the staff were just happy to see that we were enjoying our meal, proud that they are bringing authentic Italian food to the people of Manchester and knowing they are altering peoples perception of Italian food.
So whether it is a sit down meal, produce for you to experiment with at home or a quick Panini to enjoy whilst watching the big screen over the summer, Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar is the place to beat!
