Manchester Markets sets up stalls in Heaton Park this Easter Bank Holiday Weekend to offer an array of food and personalised goods for sale.
Animal Farm
A perfect day out for all the family over the extended Spring weekend, it’s not just shopping on the agenda of this Easter fair. Located at the Farm in the heart of the park (besides the Mansion) there are plenty of wildlife to greet during your visit.
Donkey rides are available for smaller children, with a selection of Owls and Falcons settled nearby for the family to meet. The usual farm is still open to the public, with it’s resident pigs, sheep, bunny rabbits and alpacas to entertain your visit.
Food and Drinks Market
Back to the market, the food and drink are certainly worth a trek up Heaton Park’s inclining hills to reach the stalls. Independent retailers offer a variety of mainly food and drink items to purchase, ranging from fresh bespoke cheese blends to Turkish Grilled Skewers. Sweet Treats are offered in the form of homemade cookies, rich chocolate brownies, freshly made cupcakes and marshmallow sticks. Enough choice to satisfy the most sweet toothed shopper.
Park Entertainment
Wooden board games are left on the grass outside the farm area to encourage families to relax and have a game, including giant Connect 4. The standard ice cream vans are stationed outside to provide further treats, the perfect accompaniment to a chilled afternoon taking in the parks greenery (weather permitting).
More fun can be found in the fairground rides situated next to the market, offering teacups and inflatable slides to keep the kids busy for an hour or two while you browse the markets. Face painting is also available, allowing your little one to take on character of their choice and their imagination to roam. Dressed up Disney Princesses were also doing the rounds, greeting children and embodying the spirit of the fair.
The fair is on until Monday 17th April so ensure you give it a visit while you can.
